“There shall not be found among you ….one who practices divination” Divarim 18:10

A diviner is someone who strikes the ground many times with a staff in his hand, utters strange noises, has deranged thoughts and stares at the ground for a long time until he becomes like an epileptic and foretells the future.

There are those whom use sand or stones or throws a leather belt onto the ground or takes his staff and says “should I go or should I not go “

All this is included under divination, performance of any one of these is prohibited.

Consulting a diviner is forbidden by the Rabbis.

This applies in all places at all times for men and women.

Do not practice divination.
