Rest from work on the day of Shmini Atseret (the eighth day of the assembly)
“The eighth day shall be a holy convocation to you …it is a solemn assembly and desist from work.” Vayikra 23;36
The law is the same as the first day of Passover. Mitzvah 25.
This is required in all places and at all times for male and females.
